FEC Approves N3.2bn for Procurement of Detection Scanners for 5 International Airports in Nigeria

The Federal Executive Council FEC on Monday approved the sum of N3.2 billion for the procurement of modern Explosives and Narcotics Detection scanners for use in five major airports across Nigeria.

Keyamo disclosed this while briefing State House Correspondents after the weekly FEC meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu, in Abuja.

The four international airports to receive the scanners are Abuja, Lagos, Kano, Port-Harcourt.

The minister said that the procurement of airport scanners would put an end to airport officials having to manually search the bags of passengers passing through airports.

The second memo approved by NEC according to the Minister is the signing of Bilateral Air Service Agreement with South American nation of Republic of Guyana to operate direct flights between the both countries.

Keyamo disclosed that the bilateral agreement with Guyana was signed nine years ago, precisely in 2014, but was waiting to be ratified.

The minister explained that the ratification of the bilateral air service agreement indicates that Guyana can now have direct flights to Nigeria
