Speaking to State House correspondents after the meeting at the Presidential Villa, in Abuja , Former governor of the state, Senator Adams Oshomhole and the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Abubakar Momoh expressed optimism that the APC would win the September election in landslide victory.

The forme Edo State Governor, Senator Oshiomole however denied reports from some quarters that APC was responsible for the crisis in the Edo Peoples Democratic Party PDP caucus, noting that their issues were basically internal and not related to the ruling party.

Recall that Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court had on Thursday in Abuja, nullified the PDP governorship primary election in Edo State that produced Asue Ighodalo as its candidate on the ground that 378 delegates who were supposed to vote at the primary election were unlawfully excluded by the party.

According to Oshiomole. who is also the party leader in the state, “the fact that there had been division in Edo before their primaries and after their primaries is an open secret, and the issues in dispute are also very open. This is purely intra-party issues.

“I think you should dismiss that because this is PDP versus PDP and you know that by the law, another party cannot go into intra-party conflicts in court”, he said.

Speaking on the essence of the visit, the former governor explained that both leaders accompanied the candidate and the running mate to give update to the President on details about their campaign activities and the record of new members who recently defected to the party in Edo State.

On his part, Minister of Niger Delta Development, Momoh, expressed certainty that the APC has the higher advantage for victory in the forthcoming election.

He affirmed that the party was very hopeful that the election scheduled for September 21, 2024, will be a successful exercise for the party.
