The Central Bank of Nigeria has postponed the Monetary Policy Committee’s 293rd meeting, earlier scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, September 25 and 26, 2023.

This was contained in a statement by the Apex bank’s Director of Corporate Communications, Dr Isa AbdulMumin, on Thursday.

the statement reads in part “The Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Nigeria has deferred its 293rd meeting scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, September 25 and 26, 2023, respectively.

“A new date will be communicated in due course. We regret any inconvenience this change may cause our stakeholders and the general public.”

Meanwhile, the CBN has introduced an online platform for the submission of Microfinance Bank licence applications.

The new platform according to the bank’s Director, Corporate Communications, Isa AbdulMumin, will replace the traditional manual process through which prospective MFB licence applicants previously submitted their applications to the apex bank.

Abdulmumin said the platform which is called “CBN Licensing, Approval and Other Requests Portal”, offers numerous benefits, including a simplified process, time savings, enhanced communication, and robust security measures.

He added that the Bank’s aim is to improve accessibility, reduce paperwork, and expedite licence approvals by digitising the application process, to the benefit of both applicants and the economy.
