2023 General Election: IPC advises political parties against inciteful utterances

As the 2023 general elections campaign is ongoing the International Peace Commission(IPC ) in Nigeria has advised all political parties to guard their utterance in order to avoid unnecessary tension by way of incitement.

The Head mission, International Peace Commission, Ambassador Hussaini Coomassie who gave the advise in Abuja at the commemoration of the 2022 United Nations Day, called on the federal government to look into issues that are responsible for individual and group taking up arms to wage war against the state.

He noted that this is pertinent in order to create an enabling environment for youth restiveness to be addressed and for peace to reign in the country.

The Ambassador stressed that the values and principles of the United Nations charter in the world needs to be brought back to life by giving peace a chance and ending conflicts that jeopardize lives, futures and global progress.

Coomassie enjoined President Mohammadu Buhari to put more effort in resolving security challenges and bring to book organizations and individual found sponsoring insecurity in the country.

This year marks the 77th anniversary of the United Nations Day and its themed “The UN and Nigeria: partnership for peace, prosperity and sustainable development.”
