SON Set To Host 30th ARSO General Assembly In Abuja

The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) is set to host the African Organisation for Standardisation (ARSO) 30th General Assembly in Abuja

The African Organisation for Standardisation (ARSO) is the continental standards body mandated to facilitate intra-African trade and industrial development through harmonized standards and conformity assessment.

According to a statement by SON Director, Public Relations, Folusho Bolaji on Friday, the Africa’s intergovernmental standards body will converge in Abuja, Nigeria from the 17th – 21st June 2024 at the Abuja International Conference Centre.

The conference slated to kick off with opening ceremony by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investments, Dr. Doris Ujoka – Anite MD, will feature distinguished speakers from the public and private sectors, cultural performances and ceremonial proceedings.

The General Assembly is ARSO’s highest governing body who meet at least once a year to review the progress of the organization based on the yearly strategic plan.

The statement explained that the flagship event promises to be a pivotal moment in Africa’s journey towards harmonizing standards and encouraging trade facilitation across the continent through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The conference is also expected to feature Technical Workshops, Exhibition Showcase themed “Made-inAfrica Expo”, Networking and Social Events, among others.

The event will bring together key policy-makers, experts, professionals and other relevant stakeholders from across the African continent and beyond, to discuss and strategize on critical issues related to Standardisation, Quality Infrastructure and Trade facilitation.
