The Association of Bureaux de Change operators has thrown its weight behind Central Bank of Nigeria’s efforts at sanitising the market and taking forex traders off the streets.
President of the Association of Bureaux De’Change Operators of Nigeria (ABCON, Aminu Gwadabe in a telephone interview noted that there were several factors causing the volatility in the nation’s financial system.
He lauded the apex bank for giving room for series engagements with its members, while expressing the possibility of coming up with measures that could solve the challenge that is becoming a national crisis.
He affirmed that the ongoing raid by security operatives against illegal operators is not against licensed Bureaux De’Change operators but targeted at those who engage in Forex street trading.
Gwadabe who condemned street trading of Forex, expressed support for any actions that will rid the streets of unlicensed operators.
