The Nigeria Labour Congress NLC has given the Federal Government, including the Central Bank of Nigeria 7 working days to address the issues petrol scarcity and cash crunch in Nigeria
NLC President, Joe Ajaero who spoke at the opening ceremony of the inaugural Central Working Committee meeting on Monday in Abuja said that it is difficult to access money from the banks due to the cash crunch
Ajaero stated that even to buy goods from the market especially from traders who doesn’t have bank accounts have now become an issue in the country
According to him 16,000 pensioners and 15,000 workers who were stigmatized as ghost workers are not been paid their salaries
He said “The congress whishes to inform the Federal government that it will no longer be quiet to the Issues of fuel scarcity and increase on Petroleum products”.
The chairman however warned that if the government failed to address these daunting issues within 7 working days the Congress will direct all workers in Nigeria to stay at home.
He urged the Federal Government to remember that the interest of the country is paramount to all and should do everything possible to make sure that the system works.
