NBC sanctions 14 broadcasting stations for bridge of compliance

The Director-General of National Broadcasting Commission NBC, Balarabe Ilellah said 14 Broadcasting Stations have been sanctioned so far for campaigning 24 hours to the general election.

Balarabe Ilellah made this known while giving the situation report on the presidential and house of Assembly election in Abuja.

He stated that the sanctioned stations has refused to adhere to the extant rules and guidelines on political coverage, hence, have been issued penalty for the bridge of compliance.

Recalled the NBC boss at a media conference on February 10th 2023 , revealed that the commission had deployed all the technical and operational facilities for nationwide monitoring of the general elections.

According to him, in order to ensure quality broadcast, no locality in Nigeria where a broadcast station exists will be left unmonitored.

He said that a Central Monitoring Committee had been constituted to provide rapid response to unethical broadcasting and violations on election days.

He however urged broadcast stations to use their platform judiciously to unite the country , as well promote the country’s democracy.
