Concerned stakeholders in the Agricultural sector have recommended improved budgetary allocation to the agricultural sector as a panacea for food insecurity in Nigeria.
The Country Director, Oxfam, Vincent Ahonsi made the call in Abuja, during the OSAID project close-out and dissemination workshop.
Vincent said the aim of the project is to strengthen farmers, particularly women in the agricultural sector and to strengthen active citizenship.
He explained that an increase in the budget will give farmers access to quality farm inputs, especially improved seeds, fertilizers, and mechanization.
Also speaking, the Project Director, Enoch Bamaiyi said the project has been able to provide access to finance and technical skills for over 80,000 households to enhance the commodity market system.
The chairperson of the Adamawa state planning commission, Mary Balinga while commending the sponsors of the project for strengthening the institutional capacity of farmers and women in Adamawa state, reiterated the commitment of the state governor to ensuring project sustainability.
