The Lagos State Government has promised continued support for cooperative movements in recognition of their contribution to the social and economic development of the state.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said this through his Deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat at the Lagos Cooperative Festival.
The Governor assured that the request of the competitive federation for a five billion naira loan and a cooperative agency would be considered by the government after an official letter.
In her welcome address, Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Dr Lola Akande assured that the Ministry will continue to render all necessary assistance to sustain the tempo of development in cooperative societies.
She urged the leadership of Cooperative societies to carry out regular reappraisal of the business activities embarked on with a view to improving on results achieved.
