The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), yesterday met with the leadership of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to seek ways to guarantee adequate supply of petroleum products for the Transport system to be deployed for the 2023 General Election across the country.

Speaking at the meeting in Abuja, INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu said the Commission is determined to overcome the perennial challenge of late commencement of polls on grounds of logistics, hence the need to seek the support of NNPC, as National oil company, to provide the fuel that will be used to facilitate the attainment of smooth transportation of materials and personnel.

Speaking at the meeting, the Chief Executive Officer, NNPCL, Mele Kolo Kyari, said adequate arrangements will be made in collaboration with other partners to ensure that the products are made available to INEC’s vehicles and boats during the election period or as a buildup to the election.

He also assured that NNPCL is working to address the current fuel scarcity being experienced across the country within the next one week .
