Nigeria Police recounts operational success in 2022

The Nigeria Police says between January to November, 2022 it has rescued 865 victims of kidnapping, arrested 335 murder suspect and apprehended 473 suspected cultist.

The inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali while speaking at a meeting with strategic police officers on Thursday in Abuja stated that during internal security operations, the force recovered a total of 1,125 assorted firearms and 10,653 assorted caliber of ammunition.

The IGP admitted that the outgoing year presented sets of security challenges which at some point evolved to threaten the security order and national cohesion of the country.

Alkali however noted that inspite of the enormity of these threats, the review of operational strategies, acquisition of new specialized operational assets and enhanced intelligence capacity have helped to confront the threats successfully and stabilize internal security as the year winds down.

While expressing the determination to confront the complex challenges that the year 2023 may present, the IGP reassured Nigerians and the global community of the force’s resolve to guarantee credible elections in 2023.
