The Senate has taken up the Minister of Defence, Retired Major General Bashir Magashi, on the insertion of eleven billion naira in the proposed 2023 budget of the Defence Ministry.
The Senate Committee on Defence uncovered the gap in the eleven billion naira in the 2023 budget of the Ministry during defence of the entire proposal of the minister.
The eleven billion naira extra as observed and pointed out by the Vice Chairman of the Committee, Senator Itsifanus Gyang, comprises of eight point six billion naira earmarked for the procurement of military equipment and two point two-five billion naira for safe School initiatives.
The Minister in his response sought permission from the Committee for the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Doctor Ibrahim Kana to respond.
