2023 Election: CUPP alleges INEC leadership under pressure to ditch BVAS

Opposition political parties in Nigeria have alleged of a lot by the All Progressives Congress plans to force the Independent National Electoral Commission to stop electronic transmission of 2023 election results.

The Spokesperson of the Coalition of United Political Parties Ikenga Ugochinyere while speaking at a press conference on Thursday in Abuja alleged that the party want to deactivate the bi – modal voter accreditation system BIVAS from the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) server during the upcoming election.

The opposition coalition resolved that they will petition the United kingdom high commission and the United States embassy and alert them of the alleged conspiracy which threatens the Nigerian electoral process.

Ugochinyere stated that they will urge UK and US to keep vigilant eye on the process as development partners and ensure the right thing are done in compliance with extent laws.

He called for the investigation and arrest of those who are involved in the compromise of voters registration with the code – name Omuma magic.

The spokesperson revealed that the INEC leadership are being put under immense pressure to abandon the use of the BVAS machine which he noted, if granted can throw Nigeria into pre and post election crisis.

The political parties and opposition parties are saying that the continued stability of detention of INEC staff and immediate release, the non – harassment of opposition candidates chairmen and leaders with trump up charges are non negotiable and mandatory conditions for a free and fair upcoming election.
