A thirty-one-kilometre redline passenger rail service from Oyingbo, Lagos State, to Agbado in Ogun State will begin in the first quarter of 2023.

Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Doctor Frederick Oladeinde disclosed this at the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding of the Project.

Oladeinde informed that the first phase of the twenty-five kilometre stretch from Oyingbo to Agbado already being constructed will be completed by the end of this year, while passenger operations would start in the first quarter of next year.

He stressed that a train station and depot was being built in Ogun State, adding that the project would create employment opportunities and huge investment within the corridor for the states.

Secretary to the Ogun State Government, Tokunbo Talabi said the project was another achievement in the series of developments engendered by the Lagos/Ogun Joint Commission.
