As part of efforts to encourage more youths to register and vote in the 2023 General Elections, the European Union (EU) has partnered with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to organise the second edition of ‘Youth Vote County’ Musical Concert in Abuja.

The need for younger people to be actively involved in the political processes in order to bridge the gap of voter apathy in the country is the basis for this partnership.

Speaking at the event, the European Union delegation to Nigeria, Laolu Omowumi, decried the disconnection between the younger generation and the political process.

For his part, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, INEC, Yahaya Bello disclosed that the commission has no plan to extend date of Continuous Voters Registration so as to enable the commission print the permanent voters card before the elections.

The Project Manager of YIAGA Africa, Samson Itodo in his reamarks however, appealed to INEC to extend the CVR to enable more Nigerians participate in the forthcoming general elections.

Some of the artists expected to perform at the second edition of the ‘Youth Vote County’ Musical Concert in Abuja, are Tupace, MI, Teni, Asake, Falls, Zlatan, Mayokun, Omawumi, Patoranking, among others.
