The State Government through the Ministry of Agriculture is set to engage more stakeholders on campaign advocacy against illegal abattoirs scattered across the State.

The Head Monitoring, Enforcement and Compliance Unit of the Veterinary Department, Ministry of Agriculture, Doctor Kehinde Gbolabo said the campaign was to reach out to operators of illegal abattoirs and stakeholders to ensure a wholesome and healthy red meat value chain.

While leading an advocacy campaign to Epe Division, Gbolabo, stressed that the State was keen on ensuring that standard abattoirs were provided for the processing of meat as adequate measures have been put in place to achieve the feat.

In his reaction, the Leader of Arewa Ram Seller in Epe Community, Ommar Abdullahi, said they would prefer a Government-owned abattoir rather than the private establishment.
