FG TO SET UP COMMITTEE ON A HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT

The Federal Government is planning to set up a committee that will work to ensure Nigeria maintains a health planet and benefit from it’s numerous health benefits.

This is according to the minister of state for health, doctor Olurunnimbe Mamora, at a news conference to mark the 2022 world health day in Abuja.

According to the World Health Organization, approximately 80 percent of climate change effects, impacts the health of many children as well as adults.

Diseases such as Cancer, Asthma and heart diseases are increasing rapidly, owing to the a fast degrading environment.

The Federal Government says the situation calls for an urgent action to safeguard both the planet and the Health of citizens, in line with the 2022 World Health Day Theme, which is ” Our Planet, Our Health”.

The health minister assures that the government will bring together experts, policymakers, stakeholders, and development partners to set up the committee, to discuss scientific issues that will help to improve the environment

He also calls for a Multidisciplinary and multi-sectoral collaboration at national, regional, and local level to attain this goal.
