NPC TRAINS VOLUNTEERS ON ELECTRONIC BIRTHS’ REGISTRATION IN LAGOS.

The National Population Commission (NPC) Lagos State, says it is providing accurate, reliable and current data as it begins the training of over three hundred volunteers for migration to electronic and digitization of births’ registration.

Its Federal Commissioner, Olayinka Oladunjoye, disclosed this at the 3-day training for DCRs, Registrars and AD-Hoc volunteers for E-CRVs Birth Registration (Phase1) for Kosofe and Somolu Local Government Areas, in Lagos.

Oladunjoye noted that the success of any Government depends on the availability of timely and reliable demographic data for planning purposes, ensuring sustainable economy and provision of social facilities to the people.

She urged all stakeholders, including the local governments, UNICEF and the media, to collaborate in order to facilitate a seamless, complete and successful adoption of electronic births registration system without omitting any child.

A Representative of UNICEF Nigeria, B Field Office, Lagos, Dennis Onoise, stressed the need to sustain the training across the designated States including Lagos to be able to register and certify a large number of under one and five years children as soon as they were delivered.
