The Federal Government will deploy technology for the surveillance of mining sites across the country.

Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, who stated this in Abuja said the technology would be in addition to the two thousand, two hundred and twenty personnel of the Mining Marshal Corps, drawn from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, to combat illegal mining.

The Minister noted that the corps deployed across the country were also trained on modern warfare by the military to secure Nigeria’s natural resources.

He stressed that the government was collaborating with other government agencies, such as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, the Nigerian Army and the Police to curb the menace.
