Healthcare: President Tinubu Approves Sector Wide Programme to improve wellbeing of Nigerians


President Bola Tinubu has directed the ministry of health and its partners to pursue a sector wide programme using the basic healthcare provision fund to improve population health outcomes as a basis for reviving the nation”s primary healthcare system

Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Ali Pate disclosed this while briefing state house correspondents after a closed door meeting with the President and one of Nigeria’s development partners at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Pate disclosed that the directive by the President was part of efforts to improve the health and well being of all Nigerians, in line with the renewed hope agenda.

He said the President also approved an initiative to unlock the healthcare value chain to help drive the medical industrialisation agenda, in collaboration with public and private sectors.

According to Pate, part of the presidential directive was also to design social action fund, as a way of supporting and empowering communities to complement government efforts in alleviating the pains of Nigerians.

He noted that President Tinubu charged them to be more proactive in the mandate to improve the health and wellbeing of all Nigerians.

Professor Pate assured that President Tinubu administration will create an enabling environment for private sector to participate in the initiative, in order to boost the quality of health and wellbeing of Nigerians, drive the economy and create jobs.

Accompanying the health minister on the visit to President Tinubu, Professor Senait Fisseha, who spoke on behalf of development partners, expressed their readiness to work with Nigeria on its initiatives to advance the health of all especially adolescents, women and girls.
