The Coalition of United Political Parties CUPP has called on the Nigeria Police to ensure that the perpetrators of the attempted assassination of the Spokesperson of coalition Ikenga Ugochinyere get arrested and prosecuted as stipulated by law.
The Co-national spokesperson of CUPP Mark Adebayo made this known while addressing journalists at a press conference on Sunday in Abuja.
Adebayo alleged that Ikenga was openly threatened by one Chinasa Nwaneri who is one of the aides of the incumbent governor of Imo state, Governor Hope Uzodinma, 3 weeks before the attack.
The group, therefore called for his immediate arrest and thorough investigation and persecution to avoid further attacks.
The Co-national spokesperson however, demanded adequate security for Ikenga Ugochinyere and other opposition wherever he goes in continuation of his lawful campaign activities.
The coalition also called on Inspector General of police Usman Alkali and the Department of State service to ensure safety and protection of the spokesman of the Coalition of united political parties.
Adebayo beseeched the people in Ideato Federal Constituency of Imo State to remain steadfast in their overwhelming support for Ikenga Ugochinyere
