Alleged Terrorism Funding: Group raises alarm over smear campaigns against CBN Governor

The Coalition of National Interest Defenders has raised alarm over fresh plot to launch coordinated attack and smear campaigns against the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria Godwin Emefiele.

The convener of the group Barrister Tochukwu Ohazuike while addressing journalists at a press conference on Thursday in Abuja said despite the clear and direct orders of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory the service was insistent that it would arrest the CBN Governor.

Ohazuruike stated that the continued agenda by the State Security Service to undermine the President of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari and the Central Bank leadership led by Emefiele, with plan to fabricate another allegations
to help them arrest the Governor is unnecessary.

He noted that this forced him to resign to pave way for appointment of the Department of State Service stooge as acting CBN Governor despite numerous judgements from courts of competent jurisdiction.

The Convener stressed that the flagrant violation of the rule of law was very worrisome and called on all authorities to intervene and call the agency to order.

The group alleged that money launderers, vote buyers, election riggers and corrupt politicians are the sponsor of the plot to remove the CBN Governor.

The alleged that the groups such as transparency Africa, league of professionals for good governance and accountability and an illegal factions of the national youth council of Nigeria have been mobilized to carry out these protests beginning from the 9th of January.

The coalition called for the President to authorize the attorney general of the federation to institute a criminal inquiry into the lastest happenings and reiterated it’s call for the sack of the Director General of SSS so as not to interfere with investigation
