Ahead of the All Progressives Congress, APC, primaries, the Rescue Nigeria Mission, a group canvassing support for Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023, has said that the governor will not step down for any aspirant participating in the election.
Bello was among the first aspirants to declare interest to contest the 2023 Presidential election under the platform of the APC.
Speaking during a rally on Saturday in Abuja where they chanted various solidarity songs in support of the Kogi governor, the National Coordinator of the group, Abdullahi Damati, said Bello will not disappoint his supporters for any reason.
He said the Nigerian youth are ready to cast their vote for Bello in 2023, as they hope he will clinch the presidential ticket of the APC.
“We are a group of Nigerian Youth that come across the 36 states of the federation, we are over 15 million waiting for the day of election to cast our votes to Yahaya Bello”, he said.
About 25 aspirants in the ruling All Progressives Congress like Former Lagos governor Bola Tinubu; Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi,; Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, Minister of transportation; Rotimi Ameachi: Ekiti State governor;Kayode Fayemi, among others bought nomination forms to succeed President Buhari whose second year tenure ends on May 29, 2023.
When asked if Bello would step down, he said “there is nothing like that at all because Bello is a man of his words, all the Nigerian youth are with him, over 15 million youth are ready for him, I don’t think he will ever disappoint them at any time for any reason”.
While expressing hope that Bello would win the party’s ticket to contest in 2023, Damati said other aspirants sharing money to delegates are doing that at their own risk.
He said the kogi governor is interested in job creation and in the abolition of poverty, adding that the governor is only the right choice of President that can actualise the collective dreams of Nigerians in the face of the nation’s crucial realities.
According to him, Bello has shown an example of responsible and responsive leadership, noting that “governor Bello clearly represents the collective aspiration of the Nigerian people for a nation where justice, equity, fairness and Inclusiveness is prime”.
“We are very hopeful, we have the support of all the party stalwarts, those who are going around sharing money are doing that at their own risk.
“All Nigerian youth have shown clearly that they want Yahaya Bello to become the President in 2023. This event is happening in the 36 states of the federation. So Yahaya Bello stand a better chance to win the primaries”, he added.
